Gratitude with an undertone of Darkness

A life of isolation we live.
Yet in our isolation we are connected.
Connected in the truth that we all seek one common ground.
Happiness.
It is by this that we live.
The definition of such things is different for each person.
Is it up to us or someone else to determine our happiness?
Is it this Happiness that we will never fully achieve?
We try so hard.
Everyday looking for ways to “Change Suffering” as the Buddhists would say.
Is not Prayer and a connection to the spiritual not one way to achieve this goal?
Our desire to speak with a creator who loves us comes from our desire to be happy.
If we could for one moment end the swirls of thoughts and feelings in our active brains, If there was something we could do to make our moment by moment that much more enjoyable, Would we do it?
Isn’t it by that same token that one thing which made us happy this moment going to make us unhappy in another moment.
In the nature of the Universe all things have opposites.
If Heaven then Hell.
If Sun then Moon.
If Male then Female.
If Up then Down.
If right then left.
It is this paradoxical existence we live in that will some day bring us all to our physical end.
The end that we will never fully fathom.
Some of us get by with a fortunate existence.
If you can see with your two eyes,
Smell with your two nostrils,
Hear with your two ears,
Eat with your two hands,
Walk with your two feet,
I might deem that a fortunate existence in itself.
If not then the lesson is to be learned. Life is truly a blessing.
Hardship. Happiness. Questions. Confusion. Peace. Love. Existence.
So I’d say to live each day with a smile of greatness.
To be thankful would be to hold on to a semblance of beauty in a world
With an undertone of darkness.
